Chesterfield Hospital Alcohol Liaison workers
Within our service we have two hospital alcohol liaison workers that work closely with the substance misuse hospital liaison team at Chesterfield Royal Hospital, providing support to people accessing A&E with alcohol-related issues. Their role is to motivate, engage and support people into accessing treatment for alcohol use. Referrals to these specialist workers are via the hospital only. Where possible, an initial assessment will be conducted by our alcohol worker within just a few days of referral, and ideally whilst the individual is still in hospital. Appointments will be conducted in Chesterfield Royal Hospital, in the person’s home and within their local community following medical discharge, and will focus on exploring treatment options, care planning, risk management, structured high intensity interventions and aftercare recovery support.
This provision is currently only available in the Chesterfield area.
For anyone wanting alcohol treatment and support outside of this specialist Chesterfield Hospital provision, please contact our single point of access hub on 01246 206514 / info@derbyshirerecoverypartnership.co.uk
Overcoming an alcohol problem can sometimes need more than traditional treatment services and there are several charities and organisations in Derbyshire offering support, some of which are below:
Growing Recovery In Derbyshire (GRID) - Recovery Projects | Growing Recovery In Derbyshire. GRID provides an information platform for a wide variety of support available across the Derbyshire county for people in, or working towards, recovery. You do not need to be referred to a GRID recovery project, you can get in contact with them yourself and take part in what they have on offer.
Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) - Tel 0845 769 7555 or find your local meeting here Home - Alcoholics Anonymous Great Britain. AA is a group of people who share their experiences with each other in order to support and help others to recover from alcoholism. You do not need to be referred to AA, you can get in contact with them yourself and take part in a local meeting.
Lower my Drinking App - Lower My Drinking - Derbyshire. The Lower My Drinking App is a free online resource that provides expert advice and scientifically proven tools to help you reduce your drinking to the recommended lower risk limit of 14 units a week or less, and it’s free to Derbyshire residents.
