Counselling

Working with the person, not the substance
Everyone’s experience with drugs or alcohol is different. Our trained counsellors will work with you to understand your needs and give the right support. This could mean talking about things like stress, past trauma, or mental health. Many people who use substances also have problems like anxiety or depression. Counselling can help with both, making it easier to recover and less likely you'll use substances again.
Counselling teaches you better ways to deal with triggers, cravings, and difficult emotions. This helps you make positive changes without turning to substances. It gives you a safe place to talk about your feelings, so you don’t have to use drugs or alcohol to feel better.
Some people have used substances because of past trauma. Our counsellors know how to help with these using methods like Rewind or EMDR. We also offer Hypnotherapy and Ear Acupuncture to help with stress and cravings.
In short, counselling helps you understand why you use substances, find healthier ways to cope, and support your long-term recovery. If you’d like to talk about these services, speak to your key worker.

Compassionate Mind Training (CMT)
CMT is for people who feel stable in their recovery and want to stay strong when things get hard.
Compassion means caring about your pain and other people’s pain and wanting to help improve it.
It includes three parts: caring for yourself, accepting care from others, and supporting others.
In CMT, we talk about our struggles and learn ways to manage our emotions. This provides us with tools to handle daily challenges without using substances.
If you want to learn more about self-care, this group might be helpful. Speak to your key worker or counsellor to learn more.
